Wedding Favors – Inexpensive and Elegant

Wedding favors have become a “must” for most weddings. Brides cannot imagine having no wedding favors. As they launch preparations for the wedding, they begin looking at possibilities: candy, chocolate, candles, seeds, coasters, cookies, tea – the list seems endless. Unfortunately, for some, the list may seem to offer nothing that is both inexpensive and elegant. They may feel that they are forced to choose between the two.

Inexpensive, elegant wedding favors must exist, they reason, but where can you find them?

A Humane Society donation wedding favor may be the answer. These inexpensive, elegant wedding favors are a tasteful way of showing that you care for animals, and believe your guests care also.

Humane Society Donation Wedding Favors

Humane Society donation wedding favors are easy on the bride, and at such a busy time of her life, that alone makes these wedding favors a great choice. There is no shopping to be done. No boxes arrive, needing to be unpacked. Nothing must be assembled. No tags wait to be added.

To get Humane Society donation wedding favors, all you need to do is contact the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) through their website. A search engine will find it for you quickly.

Tell the ASPCA what amount of money you would like to donate to help care for animals. Then tell them how many guests you expect at your wedding. After that, just sit back and let the ASPCA do the rest.

The ASPCA will send you enough place cards for your entire guest list. The small white cards are quite elegant, each one bearing the ASPCA symbol on the front in silver. Beneath the silver symbol are the letters, ASPCA.

Humane Society donation wedding favors tell your guests that you have made a donation in their names “in lieu of a wedding favor.” There will be no indication of the amount you have given, so whether it is large or small, only you and the ASPCA representative will know.

Inexpensive, Elegant Wedding Favors

These inexpensive, elegant wedding favors offer you a number of advantages.

* Inexpensive: This is, of course, a relative term. A donation of $1,000 might be termed “inexpensive” if you are inviting 1,000 guests. You are getting wedding favors for a mere $1 per guest. If you are on a smaller budget, your wedding favor donation could be much less than $1,000. Perhaps you really have little to spend on any kind of wedding favors. A small flute-shaped bottle filled with bubbles, its white top said to look like champagne foam, might cost only $0.20 per guest, and that may be all you can afford. But suppose you donated the same amount to the Humane Society. You would still get inexpensive wedding favors, but they would not appear to be inexpensive. The ASPCA has no minimal donation amount. Nor do they limit donations at the upper end. Whatever you can give for your wedding favors is appreciated.

* Elegant: Those …

Tire Shopping 101 – Buy Cheap Tires

Over the past few years I have been watching tire sales, looking at tire quality and have been spending a lot of time trying to figure out the big question. That question would be is it better to suck it up and put top quality tires on your vehicle or run inexpensive tires and change them more often. The real answer does come down to personal preference however I have to say that I myself prefer to run cheap tires and change them every 30-40 thousand miles if need be. Of course when making this decision I ran my own tests to answer the following questions.

Question #1 By running cheap tires am I sacrificing safety? I have 2 children so this was very important. What I found is that 9 times out of 10 the cheap tires performed as well as the expensive tires. Sure tire companies will tell you that there state of the art tread design will cut through rain and stop hydroplaning as an example. I have to say that going through a 1 foot deep puddle the laws of gravity and water mass defiantly out do the tread design. The fact is that hit at the right speed and force no tire tread design is going to stop you from hydroplaning. So in this case the cheap tires worked just as good as the more expensive high quality tires. The next part of this question is are these cheap tires more apt to blow? The best answer to that is it is very unlikely. Most flat tires are caused by either under inflation ( which is the fault of the operator for not checking tire pressures) or by road hazards. 9 times out of 10 a road hazard is going to blow your tire no matter what the quality is. The only exception is if you are running run flat tires which cost at least 4 times the money.

Question #2 When I figure the cost of tires including labor etc. which scenario works out better? Here again we will look at the difference in tires and costs. We will look at the same sized tire (225-60-16) in 2 different brands that can be purchased through An online tire store. The first tire will be the Sumitomo Htr Plus priced at $68.00 40,000 mile tire and the Bridgestone Potenza RE92 priced at $152.00 which is a 36000 mile tire.

First of all the Bridgestone tire is over double the price and will have less life the the Cheap Tire. The only benefit is a slightly better ride. but the price tag for a set of 4 is $336.00 more. I don’t know about you but my 4 year old car does not have a brand new suspension and no matter what will not ride like I am riding on air. I really do not think I will notice the difference and will gladly pocket the $336.00 and buy the cheap tires. heck i might take that …

Itching Moles and Moles That Are Cancerous – How to Tell? How to Remove?

Moles can be removed by natural home therapies using everyday substances. However, mole removal is something that one should approach with caution. Why? – Because it is moles which, on occasions, can turn and become skin cancers, or even the dreaded form of skin cancer called "melanoma".

Usually, moles are round or oval spots. They are always darker than the surrounding skin and are dark brown to a light shade of pinkish-brown. They seem slightly raised, or flat. The harmless variety of moles should not change over the years, meaning that they should not likely grow, or change color, or become spotted. 'Healthy' moles are of uniform color through, and their edge is sharply defined. Also, they should not itch, although itching could be due to rubbing against a piece of clothing or to some other natural cause.

In the case of moles, a visit to a skin specialist (dermatologist) should precede any home treatment – if that is the intention. This is essential for getting certainty about the lesion, whether it is a mole or something else .. If the specialist finds the mole totally normal, one gets the option to leave it alone or to remove it. Often, dermatologists want to insure themselves that the lesion is totally benign. In that case, they take a small sample of the mole, called a biopsy, and send it to a specialist laboratory for examination. This is not a painful procedure; one merely feels something resembling a pinprick.

When it is finally decided to remove the mole, often just for cosmetic reasons, there is a choice between basic self-treatment at home or removal by the skin specialist. Of the various options open for specialist treatment, the quickest and least painful procedure is the removal by laser. Your dermatologist may only mention it in the last place, simply because it is the most expensive treatment available.

Laser removal usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes and the mole disappears, leaving almost no visible sign that it was there in the first place. Some discoloration of the skin may happen; this is just temporary and it disappears within a short time. The specialist may suggest a cream to help with the color problem.

In case the dermatologist may recommend a better option such as cryosurgery, which means the freezing of the mole using liquid nitrogen. There is an even more drastic treatment for deep moles: it is the surgical excision (cutting out), which is a painful procedure typically performed under local anesthesia.

With benign moles, one may also proceed with a safe, natural therapy. Some highly effective self-treatments are possible in the home without medical supervision, using harmless, natural substances, such as those found around the home or purchased from pharmacies without prescription. A popular example is the curative effect of apple cider vinegar, when applied to the mole using a cotton ball soaked in the vinegar. Treatment time is about 10 minutes several times a day until the lesion disappears entirely.

Is it Penile Eczema?

Patients can not distinguish between penile eczema and other more serious conditions in this private part of the body. Irritation and eruptions may indicate infectious conditions, which can spread rapidly through the body, if left improperly treated. It may also be the root cause of sexual transmission of disease in adults. Boys and men may feel embarrassed about seeking medical help for discomfort in the genital area, and try to treat the condition using products for relief from eczema, which are available without prescriptions. Even pediatricians may require tests and help from skin specialists, to determine the cause of inflammation of the penile skin in infants and children.

A mistaken guess about penile eczema could delay treatment of an entirely different medical condition. It is best for a doctor to order cultures of eruptions, and to examine blood to identify the true cause. Bacteria, protozoan parasites, and hyper-active immune systems can be detected through such diagnostic procedures. Immune disorders are likely to cause simultaneous skin eruptions in areas other than the genitalia, but pathogenic infections on the penis can cause serious complications if they are allowed to fester. However, doctors can easily treat the condition in decent manner, and advise their patients on steps to prevent recurrence.

What Could Cause Penile Eczema?

The skin is a persistent organ, so penile eczema may be merely an extension of the kind of eruptions and redness to which other parts of the body are vulnerable. However, the immediate environment of the genitals is different from that for skin covering other parts of the body. Personal habits and lifestyles matter most for keeping the adult penis clean and free of infection. The female reproductive tract, the rectum, hands, and the mouth are all repositories of microscopic organisms, and the exposed skin of a penis may react to contact with any of these parts of another person.

Penile eczema in a male infant may have the result of long exposure to soiled or infected clothing. Bacteria and fungi can not grow without moisture, so keeping the genitals dry, clean, and covered with inner clothing at all times, reduces the chances of infections. It is common for children to develop habits of touching their genitals unconsciously, which may also transfer infections from other parts of their bodies and from contaminated surfaces as well. Parental care givers should there correct such bad habits from the outside, and explain the fundamentals of hygiene to boys as they grow. …

Witness to Inhumanity, A Conversation With Rufina Amaya

Witness to Inhumanity

A Short Conversation With a Hero, Rufina Amaya

Rufina Amaya survived the massacre of 809 people at El Mozote, El Salvador, on December 11, 1981. She died in March 2007 at the age of sixty-four. She was survived by her few remaining family members and a large host of men and women who admired and supported her. She didn’t consider herself a hero, but a simple woman of faith that does justice. And a woman, a person of love.

Bearing witness! Presente! She bore a lot: the killings of nearly an entire village, including four of her children and her husband, by US trained government thugs, ordered by paranoid leaders who didn’t want their power threatened. The soldiers wrenched Amaya’s two little babies from her arms.

Ronald Reagan’s administration trained and equipped the Salvadoran army whom he called “Freedom Fighters,” and supported a government that Bishop Oscar Romero, at the cost of his own life on March 24, 1980, courageously denounced as perpetrators of gross violations of human rights and the murders of innocent people.

As a spirited response to this savage massacre of human beings, human flowers, Amaya spoke to small groups about her Catholic faith and practice and the need for all, both citizens and their governments, to respect and promote human rights.

May she rest in Ever-Abiding, Light-Bearing Peace.

November 20, 1999 Interview: Fort Benning, Georgia

Rufina emanated an aura of genuine bearing witness to an atrocity, while remaining peaceful and utterly human and humble. I just loved Rufina when I first saw her: light, even in darkness. She had a special beauty, small boned, a round open face, crafted from unbearable suffering met by indomitable spirit. She fixed her hair, pulled back and up into a bun, which stuck straight up. She was slightly chubby; children were extremely attracted to her. She told us she just wanted to tell her story in quiet, righteous anger, calling for real change. She exuded courage, simplicity. and nobility; her voice was strong when she addressed thousands of people at the protests against the School of the Americas (now named Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation).

God saved me because he needed someone to tell the story of what happened.-Rufina Amaya, New York Times, 1996.

MZC: Thanks so much, Rufina. I just feel I’d like to be with you. That feeling of sharing this little moment with you and wanting to support you. You’re wonderful, a light-full inspiration; I pray for you every day.

When the 1981 massacre occurred at El Mozote, with its 809 victims, it was first denied by both the Salvadoran and American governments, despite what many community and church leaders were telling the world. You, being the sole survivor, had the courage to tell what happened in your village of twenty houses facing the community square. You’ve told this story now for eighteen years.

In 1990, you were the first to testify in a criminal complaint against the Atlacatl …

Elsa Schiaparelli, Vintage Designer History

Elsa Schiaparelli has been accredited with influencing designers such as Gaultier, Galliano, Kenzo, and Issey Miyake just to name a few. I decided to write about Elsa because, although I have often heard her name mentioned, I never really knew that much about her and I decided to do a bit of research to discover who this woman was and why she was once considered to be Coco Chanel's greatest rival.

Born in Rome in 1890, Elsa Schiaparelli did not get started in the fashion world until she was in her late 20's when she was living in Paris. A simple sweater with a bow detail knitted onto the neckline was her first design and it proved to be so popular, she followed it up with a knitwear collection that was featured in Vouge in 1927. The following year she designed a line of sport-wear that was aimed at the kind of women she had seen in America. It was a huge hit, solidifying when her divided skirt was worn by the tennis champion Lili De Alvarez at Wimbledon in 1931.

In 1933, Elsa designed her first long evening gown, again it was a massive success and the design itself was copied worldwide. This absolutely was not a good thing, as her dresses were too easily copied and it was then she decided to combine her love of art with her fashion designs to create more daring and complex designs.

She collaborated with her artist friends such as Jean Cocteau and Salvador Dali. She her brave collections wild names like Stop, Look and Listen, Music, Circus, Butterflies, Commedia del l'Arte, Astrology and Cash and Carry. She turned each show into a walking art exhibit, the press called her a genius and everyone loved her for her creativity, courage, and uniqueness.

Some of her most wild designs were a result of her collaborations with Dali, the shoe hat, the telephone bag, the skeleton dress, the lobster dress and the tear dress, which was an evening gown printed with a Dali design of rips and tears, worn with a thigh-length veil with "real" tears carefully cut out and lined in pink and magenta. The print was intended to give the illusion of torn animal flesh, the tears printed to represent fur on the reverse of the fabric and suggest that the dress was made of animal pelts turned inside out. If I did not know any better I would say Lady Gaga could indeed have been looking to her for inspiration on some of her latest ensembles.

She also had a trademark color, which was called shocking pink, and she used it in absolutely everything, lipsticks, wrappings and all her clothing lines. In 1938 she launched her own perfume called shocking. The bottle was modeled on a tailors dummy, that had actually been modeled on the measurements of Mae West and it was this design that Jean Paul Gaultier used for his own fragrance debut in 1993.

Elsa designed costumes for much …

How To Approach Women

You know, I used to be just like you. I used to be intimidated or even almost afraid to approach women and talk to them. It did not matter if I was looking for a date or if I just needed to ask the time, talking to women scared me for some reason. I really needed to learn how to approach women, and after a lot of time and practice I have formulated a few tips that almost any man can use, who believes that he needs help on how to approach women.

How to Approach Women Tip # 1: Find a common interest. I was at the drugstore one day soon after I decided to do something about my little problem. I was there to buy sleeping pills because I had been suffering from a mild form of insomnia. Anyways, when I reach out to grab a box of pills, another beautiful woman reached for the box right near it. We both used each others eyes and laughed. I asked her if she was having trouble sleeping, to which she replied "yes." She asked the same question back to me and I said "No, I'm just getting ready to hibernate for the winter." She laughed. Did you see that? We had a similar problem of insomnia but used that as an opportunity to get to know a woman better. We dated for two months before she had to move back to Phoenix.

How to Approach Women Tip # 2: Be able to take rejection. The biggest thing that scared me about approaching women was that fear of being corrected of laughed at by them. Here's the thing, though. Most women know how hard it is for a man, any man, to approach a gorgeous girl and ask her out. Most will even be flattered. Very few women will make you feel dumb for talking to them. And most of those already have boyfriends.

How to Approach Women Tip # 3: Do not think. Over thinking your approach can hurt you more than it can help you. Women can tell when you walk up to them with a rehearsed speech, especially if you stop halfway through, roll your eyes back, mouth some words to yourself, and then correct whatever you just said. It's cheesy and lame and women do not like that. Clear your mind and just start talking. They like a man who is quick on his feet. Even if it takes you a while to get used to this technique, practice it because it really does work.

As you can see, these are just three tips on how to approach women that any man can use. They are not too complicated and can be done with a little bit of practice for each one. …

Beauty and the Beast Birthday Party Ideas

With Beauty and the Beast being a most loved Disney movie, incorporating this theme into your child's birthday party will be just as memorable as the story. There are many fun decorating tips and game ideas that you can use, along with these Beauty and the Beast birthday party ideas to create magical moments.

A Puppet Show
Every child loves puppets so why do not have the children create their very own Beauty and the Beast puppets? There are many characters in this movie such as Belle, Beast, Gaston, Lumiere, Mrs. Pots, Chip, and the list goes on! Select a few characters and a line that the character spoke within the movie and write them each down on a separate piece of paper for each character. Fold them up and place them in a bowl or box. Depending on how many children will be attending you can do this in groups or individually. Have them pick from a bowl or box, which character they should make. Gather some art supplies and little brown paper bags, and let them make the character that was assigned to them. Once everyone is done, the crowd will need to guess the character by the puppet that was created and the line that the child will recite. Do not forget the marks, crayons, colored pencils, and any other art supplies that can help them make their character.

Food Fight
Everyone remembers the memorable scene where the spoons are dancing, characters are singing, raining salt, dancing of the cakes and all the chaos going on! This activity may not be for everyone, but it sure would make a good time even better. If you're having an outdoor birthday party, divide the groups, and have them sit at two different tables. Buy 2 Beauty and the Beast dolls, one Belle and one Beast, and keep them in the box, one on each table. Make some fun, soft, cheap foods such as Jello squares and have each team hit the opposing teams target doll. Play the song "Be Our Guest" and once the song has ended, whiche doll is most covered in Jello, wins! Be sure to set rules so no one gets hurt of course!

Creating the Castle
You can also make the scene of the party appear to be a castle to really capture the mood of Beauty and the Beast. Do this by adding yellow streamers, a single red rose in a vase where the birthday girl will sit, and, you can place big red bows on the back of the chairs. Do not forget to decorate the curtains, illuminate the room with battery powered candles, a red walkway into the room, and of course castle d├ęcor that resembles castles walls. These are cheap, made of plastic, easy to put up and easily removable.

These are just a few party ideas that will bring together a memorable Beauty and the Beast birthday party! A puppet show, food fight, a birthday, all within castle wall's! What …
